At the Bridge Church, we have seven guiding principles that help define who we are and what is important to us. These are our core values. We often refer to them as the DNA of our church. They are what makes The Bridge…. The Bridge!
I thought it might be helpful to revisit these values in a blog series and further explain each value and how it shapes the life of our church. Today…we are taking a quick look at our second Core Value.
Core Value 2: Evangelism
There is an amazing power in the gospel of Jesus Christ!
And it is our belief that every Christian has the calling and mission to share that gospel with a lost a broken world.
The Great Commission is our rallying cry:
“And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20 ESV)
God has graciously shown us His amazing grace and we desire to share that grace with all who will hear. It is our desire to see our attenders engaged in the high calling of making disciples for the kingdom of God.
How do we promote evangelism at The Bridge?
By Being Personally Involved in Missions
We will continually be searching for opportunities for us to be involved missionally in our community, city and world! We will help encourage and resource those efforts any way we can.
By Helping Individual Christians Be Effective at Sharing the Gospel
We want to come along side and equip our attenders to share the gospel effectively.
God uses various methods and all types of personalities to further His kingdom. And we want to help every believer to effectively use the gifts God has given them to share the gospel with others.
By Gospel-Centered Preaching and Teaching
The gospel will be consistently proclaimed in our corporate worship gatherings. Every message and every song will ultimately be about Jesus and what He has done for us. It is our desire for every aspect of our teaching at The Bridge…both corporate and small group teachings…to be centrally focused on Christ and the beauty of His gospel.
We are committed to continually pray for the lost and pray for each other as we share the gospel. We know that the work of salvation is a work only God can do, so we will continue to ask Him to do that work in the lives of others.
Seeing others come to faith in Christ and follow Him in life changing discipleship is vitally important at The Bridge. It is both a great privilege and a great responsibility that we embrace joyfully and unashamedly.
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” (Romans 1:16 ESV)
