DNA of The Bridge: Part 1

What do we value at The Bridge Church? What are the key characteristics of our church that make up who we are? ……What is important to us? Glad you asked….

Our first core value that stands above and beyond all of our other values is…

Biblical Truth

2 Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness”

Doctrinally speaking…we believe that the Bible is God’s inspired, inerrant, authoritative Word. Practically speaking…we then believe that God’s Word  has the first and final say in all matters individually and corporately as a church.

All teaching, preaching and ministries at The Bridge Church will be scripturally based and founded upon its truth. No life can be truly changed and no one can be truly discipled in the ways of following Christ if those ways, revealed to us in His Word, are never preached and taught.

It is the message of the true biblical gospel that compels us to minister and to reach out in love to those around us. The Bridge Church would cease to be a church if we ever moved away from the centrality of the message of God’s word…and the centrality of Christ revealed in that word.

God’s Word sets the standard for all that we say and do at The Bridge and we value what it has to say above all other things…including the mere traditions of man. We desire to never elevate to the level of scripture those things which are man-made, regardless of how good or effective they may be. If God’s word says it…then we do it and follow it. But, if God’s word isn’t explicit in a matter…(such as what time to hold services, whether or not to have “Sunday School”, or to have pews or chairs, or even a church “building”) then we will exercise our Christian freedom to be creative in doing what is most effective in our culture and community for the sake of God’s glory.

Let us hold His word and His commands in a “closed” hand….all other things we will hold with an “open” hand……

Soli Deo Gloria,

Brandon
